The piece
Handloom in this district is not a heritage project. It is a working trade that has been losing ground to power looms for a generation, and the households still weaving are the ones with the least room to absorb a bad season.
We buy the yarn, place a fixed order, and pay for the piece whether or not it sells quickly. That single change — a confirmed order instead of a hopeful one — is what lets a weaver plan a month.
Each stole is plain-weave cotton, finished by hand. Small irregularities are the loom, not a defect.
What buying this actually does
- Pays the weaver for the piece at an agreed rate, before resale
- Covers yarn for the next batch so work does not stop
- Returns the surplus to our livelihood and skilling work
No obligation
