Bulk procurement
Grains, pulses and fortified foods bought at volume and packed into standard household kits.

Program · Nutrition
Grains, pulses and fortified food, carried to where the road ends.
The problem
Tribal households in Telangana sit furthest from both markets and services. Packaging and transport into these belts costs more than the food itself in some rounds — which is exactly why the work gets skipped.
Our approach
Grains, pulses and fortified foods bought at volume and packed into standard household kits.
We budget for the higher transport and packaging cost of remote habitations rather than distributing only where it is easy.
Year 3 expanded to additional tribal villages rather than repeating the same list.
From the field

A life changed
"Higher cost per kit is the point, not a problem."
₹3,00,000 in Year 2 and ₹2,50,000 in Year 3 funded procurement, packaging and transport of nutrition kits into tribal areas. The Year 3 round covered more villages, with higher logistics cost per kit.

Questions
Grains, pulses and fortified foods, packed as a household kit. Contents vary slightly by round and by what is locally appropriate.
Tribal habitations are far from procurement points and often reached on poor roads. We budget for it instead of avoiding those villages.
We publish spend and rounds. A verified household count for these two years is being compiled from our distribution records.
The Circle continues
Eligible donations to Nutrition Kits for Tribal Families may qualify for deduction under applicable provisions of the Income-tax Act.
