The problem

Anaemia and micronutrient deficiency in pregnancy are cheap to prevent and expensive to treat. We fund the supplements and let trained health workers do the delivery and counselling.

Expectant mothers in rural and tribal households frequently go without iron, folic acid and other essential supplements for long stretches of pregnancy — with consequences for both mother and child.

Our approach

How we work.

01

Procure the basics

Essential supplements and vitamins bought in bulk against a standard list.

02

Deliver through health workers

Distribution and medical guidance handled by health workers who already know the households.

03

Keep it running

Funded in Year 2 and again in Year 3 so mothers are not covered for one quarter and dropped the next.

Questions

You asked.

Do you run clinics?+

No. We fund supplements and outreach; medical guidance is provided through qualified health workers. We do not operate hospitals or clinics.

Which supplements?+

Essential vitamins and micronutrients appropriate for pregnancy, procured against a standard list on medical advice.

Can I fund this monthly?+

Yes. A monthly gift is the most useful form of support for this program because it is a continuity program, not a campaign.
